This week I’m driving back to South Carolina. My training at altitude is over and the races begin in January on the east coast. I’m ecstatic because never have I ever been so ready to race. I’ve managed to maintain my weight while training excruciatingly hard, and this is a real feat. Sometimes runners will literally “waste away” when they are doing hard anaerobic workouts so frequently, but my diet has been good and my hunger has been constant. And for the first time ever training, I’ve been more serious with supplementing correctly than I have been in the past. Sometimes it’s just easy to get lazy with it, but I’ve made myself a routine to take certain supplements all throughout the day depending on whether it’s PRE or POST workouts, and how many times I need to eat red meat, for example. I’ve even made it point to go through supplements and “finish them off” so I can get more and keep going. I used to try to “save” them (like a hoarder or something). The result is being able to gain muscle weight that’s very tailored to running in ways I haven’t obtained until this year.
Honestly, this is no different than beating Lyme Disease when you’re sick. I’ve kept myself on a serious schedule of combined treatments and protocols and diet and supplements until I was over it. Perhaps getting Lyme and going through the experience has helped me formulate a more serious work ethic.
I think when my coach sees me he is going to be in serious shock and extremely impressed and I can’t wait to see the faces of my former training partners etc. I think to say I’m excited is a total understatement. I honestly can’t wait.

So this is kind of what happens when you write a book (for those who don’t know). If it’s your first book, then you don’t have your “dream team” assembled. The result: well, I’ve been working with an editor since this past summer and it was supposed to be fully edited by the end of the summer. I’m so sorry for keeping everyone waiting. I’m highly aggravated and nobody is probably more annoyed than I am.
I had the deadline for the full edit by the end of December and finally she has kicked in to full gear. So when I go back to S.C. my priority is book #1. It’s just too good, juicy, and interesting to make everyone wait! Plus, I can get away with saying a lot of things I want to say but can’t in my newsletter as I might be liable. Getting sued for something really is not something I want to go through. I’m a maverick and will always be and there will always be people who hate me for breaking rules. Since we aren’t a completely “Free” society then I have to be careful. I’m more interested in racing and winning than trying to turn the medical world upside down, but I’m sure my book will do just that. Plus there are plenty of people who are more than welcome to take the book and use it to flip the medical world, if they want too. I will be vocal as well when opportunities present themselves, but I ain’t looking for any fights!

One of the first things I’ll be doing when I get back to South Carolina …well, can you guess what that will be? Besides finding my cat who ran off for a third time since I left, (and I WILL GET HIM BACK; he gets depressed when I leave) I’m going to start detoxing a little. I’ll still train but I am going to pump up the DETOX.
Detoxing and supporting and encouraging healthy functions of my organs, those once damaged by Lyme and also those that weren’t. “Freeing” myself up again might actually be the key to winning it all. I’ve come to realize this. I also think “freeing up” your system is the way you beat Lyme. Isn’t that a coincidence? Not really. If your organs function like they should, you can pretty much do anything and beat anything.
There are all kinds of methods I speak to people about; that’s just a small part of the coaching, but the ones I’m focused on will be inducing sweat (even in the winter), lymphatic massage (getting the waste to keep moving) and also ionic foot baths (yes, next newsletter is going to be about my experiences because I have a lot to say about this subject and want to discuss options, etc).
I will also take a few things to support adrenal glands and will probably change my diet to make sure these glands are ready for the stress I’m getting ready to UNLOAD on them once I start racing. Of course, liver support is ONGOING. I MUST keep my ability to detox substances HIGH. I already know I’m defunct (like most of the population) so I have some tricks I’ll be doing to keep things processing well.
I think two weeks of this and I really will be ready for anything this season.

P.S. I’ll keep everyone posted on the www.PerryFields.com blog. I’m trying to separate the Lyme stuff from the running stuff, so that track fans don’t have to read about my electrolytes and Lyme people (or those with serious auto immune diseases) don’t have to read about me going to watch my friend fight at a UFC event.
P.P.S. Whether you are for or against the war, our soldiers over there need to know we are behind them. If you go to this web site, www.LetsSayThanks.com you can pick out a thank you card and Xerox will print it and it will be sent to a soldier that is currently serving in Iraq. Thanks Desiree for sending this!
