Just recently I coached a girl who was told by her healthcare provider that she didn’t need to eat any grains (low carbs). While I don’t ever try to butt heads with any healthcare provider, I would have to strongly disagree with this. Yes, it’s very important to get high quality protein in everyday, but you have to eat grains to sop up any toxic bowel issue. I believe most people with Lyme do have toxic bowel problems. There are good choices for grains and bad ones. I personally can’t eat gluten, and I think it would help most people with autoimmune issues to stay away from gluten containing foods and wheat is gluten also. It can only help by going GLUTEN- FREE as food allergies and intolerances must be dealt with to have a full recovery.
I also think that eating grains like quinoa ( a South American grain that is high protein) and wild rice could be very beneficial for the toxic bowel issue and those are the types of grains that are slowing burning, meaning they don’t convert to glucose rapidly like (for example) white rice. But if you’re feeling extremely toxic, even eating white rice can be quite beneficial.

Manifesting Your Destiny
I know I’ve written about this before in several newsletters, but I just read this fantastic article about creative people having the advantage of being able to manifest what they want in life.
It gave steps on how you can work on doing it yourself, but the article was profound in many ways as it paralleled a lot of my own thoughts about how our lives really play out.
Everyone who is ill should see being ill as the turning point (one of many probably) in their life. I truly believe I went through it for a reason…and you should as well.
A few days ago I heard this song on the radio. This morning I kept thinking about the name of the band, but I couldn’t remember it. In fact, because I couldn’t let it go I tried Googling it, but still couldn’t find it. I flipped the TV on to see what the weather was going to be like and a commercial came on almost as soon as I turned the station….it was the song. Coincidence? You may think it was, but this type of thing happens ALL THE TIME with me. It’s almost a daily thing.
Just before I came out to Colorado Springs I had vivid dreams of this place and each night in my dreams I saw myself going to this “sacred” place and I was hiking and running around in this dream place. It wasn’t until I got out here and doing this run in Garden of the Gods that I realized that I was running in the place where I had my dream. But I had never seen this park before coming out here, nor even seen pictures!
Check out this place!
These days I’ve never felt so right about what I was doing, as I do now. Would I feel this way if I hadn’t of gone through my Lyme hell or was it just what I needed? Was cancer exactly what Lance Armstrong needed to win The Tour 7 times? If you saw pictures of him BEFORE and AFTER, you might say so.
I’ve leaned to trust myself and go with my instincts and even though I’m in Colorado Springs training without my coach, I know I’m doing the right thing EVERY SINGLE DAY . I don’t even time many of my workouts, which is unheard of in my sport.
The point is to remind everyone to be very conscious of what your intentions are everyday and to make sure that what you think coincides with what your goals are.
Here are some good tidbits from the article, “It’s all in your mind,” Yoga Journal October 2009.
“Imagination always proceeds transformation. Every important change you’ve made in your life, inner or outer, started with an act of imagination.”
My Comment: Every time you make a change in your life, you’ve already been thinking about it or creating it in your mind (you just may not have realized it).
“In order to transform ourselves and our world, we need to be able to leap out of the familiar and into the unknown.”
My Comment: This is true of everything, every problem, every issue, every illness that arises …you have to learn how to go BEYOND yourself. It’s called a “leap of faith,” and with that you have to believe and see your outcome.
“Undeniably, we’re also influenced by culture and physical circumstances. Some of these factors are hard to change. But the imagination can help us begin to replace our internal patterns, especially the ones that keep us listless and stuck. If we can reimagine our sense of what we are, we can change our experience of life.
My Comment: You can’t determine the family you were born into or the day the tick attached itself to you, but you have to realize you can get stuck in your healing process, if you’re thinking about the past and you can’t envision the future differently. Once sick, you really shouldn’t be thinking about how it all started (once you already know). Your efforts should go into what you be like next year or 2 years from now.
“Rather than the senses impacting the mind with imagery, as in ordinary seeing, through imagination the mind impacts the senses with imagery.”
My Comment: You can stimulate your senses with made up imagery. In this article, they gave examples of athletes like basketball players visualizing their free throws before games, sick people visualizing light filling their bodies, and people with anger issues visualizing their anger leaving their bodies as a stream of black smoke.
Personally every time I took action with treatments towards Lyme or repairing my body I always visualized the outcome. Even deathly ill I would have visions of clobbering people on the track! I saw exactly how my body looked and could feel how I would perform. So is it coincidence that I happen to look exactly like I imagined myself a few years ago?
Obviously no amount of wanting or imagining will get you where you want to go if you can’t take the right steps….but it IS a precursor. So make your thoughts count.
* And again, I don’t coach people on this touchy feely stuff. Coaching is about creating pathways for healing…as in a PLAN for using what’s available to make recovery possible!
More Info On The Glutathione Issue
Last newsletter I wrote about NAC (N-Acetyl- L-Cysteine) as a means to boost Glutathione levels. I had someone ask me how would they know if they had low levels of Glutathione. My answer was that you don’t know, but you can get a blood test.
From what I know about glutathione is that many people with Lyme have this issue. Perhaps it just goes back to the fact that people with Lyme have multiple issues which must be corrected for a full recovery. I keep saying, it’s never just about Lyme and while some people are all focused on the actual bacteria, those people don’t fully recover.
The last newsletter about Glutathione and NAC is here. Besides what I mentioned in the last newsletter, N-Acetyl-L-Cystenie (NAC) is used to pump up Glutathione levels.
- It acts as a powerful antioxidant and cellular detoxifying agent which is a major protector of biological functions and structures.
- NAC can detoxify heavy metals.
- It neutralizes the dangerous hydroxy radical and serves as an ANTIVIRAL.
- It helps increased immunity to the flu like H1N1.
NAC is also used to treat CFS (Chronic Fatigue), which makes senses because I believe all CFS patients have busted livers.
There are no known toxicity or side effects from taking NAC. However, large doses (like 5-6 grams a day) may cause diarrhea and some antibiotics may become inactivated if taken at the same time.
It’s no surprise that many doctors and LLMDs put their patients on NAC. Again this is something I took for quite a while during my ordeal. It could be VERY useful recovery tool for you.

Black Friday Revisited
I know it’s the time of the year when everyone goes out shopping for presents. There are two things to keep in mind.
One is that the since the economy has been a little down, charities have suffered terribly. You can donate money to a charity in honor of someone else. Usually these charities will send a gift card to that recipient (or you can make up your own).
Here are two of my favorites:
https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/
* You can even shop at these sites and proceeds go to the charities! Another thing to consider before donating is whether the money go to individuals (or victims) or into the pockets of the organizers? I don’t mean to be rude, but the PINK RIBBION charity stuff…how much money have they raised and there still is no cure for breast cancer? YEAH RIGHT! Just something to consider.
The second thing is that giving the gift of health and being instrumental in someone’s recovery is the nicest thing you can do…whether it’s for yourself because you’re a mommy and you have kids to take care of OR you have a sick cousin you know has Lyme. Cousin Bill is probably going to hate that Christmas sweater, so do you really need to buy him another one?
Be instrumental and get the products I approve and use myself. Plus, you have a chance to win free coaching from me (for yourself or as a gift to someone in need). That will be a very cool surprise indeed!
Every time you order one of the products below until Dec. 15th you get your name dropped in our bucket. I’ll be drawing for the free coaching right before Christmas and the recipient will get a card from me (and you can give it to whomever or keep it for yourself).
Get 2 FREE Lyme coaching sessions from me! Each time you order, your name goes into the drawing again.
If you have already had coaching done, you get another future session FREE if your name is drawn.
*The only stipulation is that your progress can be mentioned in my newsletter, so you have to be open to that! Because who doesn’t like to know about happy endings?

P.S. Whacky tale: Last Sunday I decided to do a training run with a marathoner friend of mine (running with a marathoner for a “long run” is a very humbling experience!). We went to the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs and ran their Falcon Trail ( a 13 miler). I had just finished doing a track workout the day before (the kind where the lactic acid builds up so badly you can’t help to run to the bathroom to vomit) so I was not completely recovered.
Long story short- I got lost when I tried to do a shortcut and instead of trying to run 8 miles I ran closer to 15 miles (at 7400 feet and below freezing temperature)! But the good news is that I’m so solid these days it didn’t phase me. I just had to thaw out my face when I was done because when the sun drops behind the mountains here in December, it gets REALLY COLD!

*Getting ready for a track workout in Colorado Springs!
