I hope this little visual experiment makes you understand the impact that frequency has in our lives.

I’ve touched on the uses of geomagnetic frequencies before and how they can be used for healing and health. I written before saying it’s what you do on a daily basis that accrues overtime, not necessarily what you do once a year (like worrying about stuffing your face at Christmas, etc.).

My information today is about using geomagnetics to treat drinking water…as drinking water is something you should be doing everyday. If you can treat your water correctly, you’re already assisting your body on many levels to release waste toxins (which is often the culprit in Lyme Disease). The build up of neurotoxins and the inability to release such toxins (sometime mechanically, sometime genetically, and sometimes metabolically).

I’m not going to say too much about them, but let my pictures of my experiment do the talking (which I did several times with the same result each time). As you may, or may not know, micro clustering water is important. The geomag card that I have has a number of different beneficial geomagnetic frequencies built into it. Besides the biggest ones like EMF/ELF protection, it also micro clusters water…essentially erasing the memory of water (water carries all the frequecienes of pollution (like that of plastics and chlorine) EVEN when it’s been treated and then you consume all of these negative frequencies). Erasing the memory and restoring it to a more natural state (that found in nature) has very good benefits for a healthy body.

Check out my experiment below:

Placing my card on the spicket (a country word used to describe a water fixture). I filled ONE glass with this water.

Tap faucet with Geomag Card

Here are my two glasses that I filled with water. The one on the LEFT (with the card underneath) was filled with water from the spicket that was charged. The glass on the right (off white label) was filled with tap water, completely untreated (no use of card at all)

The water in the glass on the LEFT was charged for 12 hrs. (by placing the card under the glass, that’s it).

Left is Charged, Right is NOT

The roses I cut from my backyard (both blooming at identical items and from the same stem). Pretty right?

Blooming at indentical times

Day 1: Both looking pretty good.

Day 1

Day 2: Both still looking pretty identical still (note that on Day 2 to take the picture I placed the card underneath just to take the picture).

Day 2

Day 3: I forgot to take the picture in the morning, and took it during the mid afternoon, so the light was a little lower than the other pictures. The rose in the untreated water starts to fall apart.

Day 3

Day 4: Rose in untreated water is getting really squishy.

Day 4

Day 5: Rose in treated water is showing some browning, but the rose in the untreated water is just about done for.

Day 5

Close up rose in untreated water…totally dead.

Day 5- close up of rose in untreated water

This is one rose, in the same water for 5 days, so imagine if you could constantly replenish your cells daily with water that was used for the healthy rose. Do you understand the importance now? I know it’s hard to understand frequency because you just can’t see it, hear it or notice that it’s there (for the most part). I hope this little visual experiment makes you understand the impact that frequency has in our lives.

You can obviously do this experiment if you have a card. You do not have to charge your water for 12 hrs. In fact, each day, I just charge my water or beverages (even food) just by slipping the card under my glass or plate for a few minutes. That’s all you really need.

I still think it’s pretty amazing that an ugly card that looks like a CC card can do all of this, but it shows you how well frequency works on our health. It’s a amazingly useful tool and I would say pretty darn important tool if you’re ill. I’m making it a “stocking stuff” for all my friends for the coming year!

I don’t usually get injuries (like bruises etc.). I do occasionally get muscle strains from running and can use my cards then. My mother had a nasty bruise last year in which we used the card on her (check out her recovery photos). Have you ever seen a nasty swollen bruise heal up like this in a few days? Photos are here (scroll down to the middle of the newsletter)

Just recently I’ve been dating a gold miner (I know it’s pretty funny) and he fixes all of those enormous trucks (Euclid Caterpillars). He has been smashing his hands a lot and getting bruises, cuts, etc. from work. I bought him a card and now he uses it every time he gets hit with something to keep the area from bruising and becoming swollen. He loves it!

The frequencies on the card are for the following issues (it’s a 10 in 1 card), meaning you get a few thousand dollars worth of different healing frequencies for different specific purposes in ONE CARD. If you try to look up something comparable you’ll see a card or gadget trying to accomplish just one of the uses of this card, for either the same amount or for way, WAY more.

It’s something that if you want to do it, you just get good at wearing the card daily and uses it to charge your water each day etc. A useful tool, is as good as the person implementing it’s uses. So don’t forget that!

  Get Your Geomag Card Here!

Food For Thought:

From the moment we are created, we begin putting our gifts to work, but the situations in which we try to express these gifts are so complex that we fail many times before we succeed so everyone carries a burden of the fear of failing the divine. It has to be in every psyche so the first step towards getting out of our own way is patience with self and some humor and forgiveness because we rarely get it right the first time.

This week’s newsletter will be quick! I had a very good question someone asked me this week. She was telling me that her daughter who is recovering from Lyme has not had much of an appetite.

Q: “She tells me she is not very hungry most of the day. She doesn’t feel like eating breakfast and lunch. I usually give her some breakfast but she says she feels stuffed after eating it. She says she has felt like this for about a year. I hadn’t noticed, but mainly she can’t take her pills on an empty stomach. I don’t want her to get run down or become deficient in nutrients. I know she wants to lose weight, but I don’t know if this is why she is not hungry. Any comments?”

A: Yes, I have some ideas. It’s summer and I’ve noticed I don’t eat much either. It’s
probably 100 degrees in SC now, not a bad thing if she isn’t that hungry right now.

Focus on eating just foods that are full of nutrients like: a tablespoon of Chia seeds, psyllium husk in water to get fiber in, eating berries, freezing grapes and eating them to cool off, eating mostly veggies, maca or raw coca, drinking teas and making sure to eat lean protein once a week. If her digestion is really weak, eating soups (veggies cooked down) is great, although sometimes difficult in the summer.

When you are fighting infection, your body needs all of its energy. It takes energy to digest food…LOTS OF IT. If she focuses on just eating the nutrient dense things, this is a good thing. She needs to keep supplementing also.

Getting the right nutrition is very important.

If you notice yourself slowing down with the eating, it’s okay. During summer months you might notice yourself eating more fruits and veggies and not wanting to digest hardy meals. This is natural for everyone, but the only real reason why someone who is ill might have a hard time eating, is usually because of the inability to digest foods (which is why supplementing with enzymes is important) or just because it takes energy to digest foods and the body needs its energy in other places.

I sometimes lose my appetite when training, which is a sign of overtraining. If my body is tired then it’s sometimes becomes hard to be in the mood to eat anything. This is when I force myself to eat nutritious things and then I get plenty of solid rest.

Here are a few food items I think are essential for anyone’s pantry (ESPECIALLY when dealing with an illness):

Chia seeds (you can buy them in bulk and take a tablespoon of them each day for quick nutrition)

Maca-Raw Coca powder (put a little teaspoon in your smoothie!)

Aloe concentrate (a tablespoon of this a day goes a long way and you can also put them in smoothies…nothing on the market compares to the enzymatic activity and energy of this product! Read the newsletters here about using this aloe concentrate juice!)

Flax meal (good in yogurt, good in smoothies and I put a few tablespoons in my pizza crust or baked goods)

Coconut Oil ( eat a tablespoon a day or cook liberally with it!)

Ghee butter (cook with it, very nutrient dense)

Green Tea Extract (put a little in a smoothie OR just put a little in boiling water to make tea)- Read about the benefits of using this here!

Yerba Mate (highly antioxidant beverage)

Brewer’s Yeast (high in B vitamins and other nutrition, get the flakes, not the powder, as the flakes are easier to eat by the tablespoon, while the powder will just stick to your teeth)

Psyillum Husks (high in fiber, a couple of tablespoons a day in 8-12 oz of water, drink quickly before it congeals)

Shilajit (I’m exploring with this, but it’s an ayurvedic herb that is good for detoxing).

Excuse me one second, I have to go to my kitchen to see what else I want to mention….

Okay, some other foods I really like (staples during any season):

Wild rice (buy different kinds, try the black wild rice varaieties that are slighty sweet)

Chorella (get it in bulk here) (good for everything and is highly dense with nutrients)

Green drink ( I like this one because of what’s mixed in it, find out here) (main ingredient should be either Wheat Grass or Barley Grass)

Frozen fruits for the freezer (buy items like bananas or berries this summer when they are cheap, wash them and make gallon size mixes for quick smoothies at anytime)

Quinoa (a South American grain, high in protein)

Organic chicken broth (just add seasonal veggies like Chard and mushrooms)

Coconut milk (great to cook with and is high in good fats and good energy calories)

Dried herbs of all types (during the summer I try to grow my own fresh ones, it’s easy, you just add water a few times a week)

Miso soups ( you can get the real deal by venturing out to the natural food store and in the refrigerator section they will have a container of fermented miso soup, just add a dolap to boiling water and you have INSTANT miso soup) *If you are sensitive to soy, don’t eat it or you might pay dearly!

These are just some examples. I’m also a big fan of raw milk and cheese unless you are intolerant to them. I would suggest getting RAW milk and cheese. The least amount of processing for your food, the better it will be for you!

It’s a pain to change your way of eating when you’re ill, but if you make baby steps in the right direction, it becomes a wonder why you never made the switch earlier in life! When you’re ill, you just have to make these types of changes. Going and eating out or eating convenience foods just won’t cut it. I hope by giving you a glimpse into my pantry that you’ll understand that I really do practice what I preach and hopefully you will find the same benefits in these foods that I do.

One of the biggest problems I hear from people with Lyme is how sick they are in their stomachs. While not every chronic Lyme person has noticeable gut issues (for example, the typical poor digestion and/or pains coming from somewhere in the digestive tract), most everyone is having symptoms that they may not be aware of. My guess is when you’re chronically ill, you have so many things going wrong all at once, it’s hard to train your body to understand what exactly is going on and WHERE the problem is stemming from.

As most people may or may not know, Autism is affecting many children these days. The rates are staggering. I’m getting to the point on how this becomes a Lyme issue…

Genes play a part in the susceptibility of Autism, but so does autoimmune disease and environmental triggers and allergies. There is one huge problem with Autistic kids…they all have gut inflammation.

Viral infections, toxins, and how we assimilate our food (i.e. food allergies) all play a part in inflammation. When you add in the bacterial infectious nature of Lyme and antibiotics (which kill anything good in your gut), you have a recipe for disaster that must be dealt with! Not only does the gut carry most of the immune system ( 60-70%), but it’s also where we break down vital nutrients that keep our bodies functioning. When it goes wrong down there, everything is going to be wrong.

What is even more interesting is that when this inflammation in the gut is present for an extended period of time, the lining of the gut becomes permeable (also known as “leaky gut”). Where there is leaky gut, there is a break down in the immune system which in turn creates a dysregulation of the nervous system. Any of you Lyme folks having neurological problems? This is your newsletter!

So is that brain mush, burning hands and feet, strange ticks & shakes, really just Lyme floating around or is it because of your gut health (whether it’s Lyme induced or not)?

Perhaps you’ve just been on antibiotics for so long that it isn’t Lyme induced. Nobody can really say, but if you have neurological issues, food allergies, intolerances, immune system issues, you KNOW you have a problem with your gut….I know I did!

My gut problems actually started as a child. I would often have terrible stabbing pains in my gut (probably due to a bad diet and the fact I was gluten-intolerant and had no idea). Years of eating the wrong foods was part of my demise once I was bitten (and who knows how many times) with a Lyme infected tick within this past decade. But my focus on my gut was part of my recovery and the fact that I still work on keeping it in an optimum state has actually caused my gluten intolerance to reverse to a degree and is probably another reason why I’m so healthy today. Once unable to tolerate a drop of soy sauce (the wheat kind), I can now dip my sushi in the stuff with no symptoms. I don’t go around eating cracked wheat bread, but I can actually eat small portions of it without going into a downward spiral to gut hell!

Testing For Gut Issues

There is a test called the Gut Barrier Integrity Screen which can test for food allergies, Candida, intestinal barrier dysfunction and microflora imbalance. Knowing your food allergies is important for a healthy lifestyle. You don’t have to be allergic to all types of food forever, but you MUST stay away from the foods that hinder your recovery.

As far as knowing your levels of problems in your gut, while helpful, in my opinion I think EVERYONE sick with autoimmune issues should just recognize that they have some type of issue there and treat themselves like they have it all. Kind of like Lyme treatment, it’s good to know what type of bacteria you have, but so many people make that the main focus right off the bat and ignore all the reasons WHY they became sick in the first place (meaning multiple health issues and breakdowns in your body). All you do is waste money, time, and effort trying to “jump the gun.” If you have Lyme or suspect you do, you should suspect you have multiple co-infections and MANY other health issues. Wonder why the tick specialist isn’t helping? Many of them specialize in just that…bacteria.

Now that I have your attention, probably an even more interesting twist is that gut inflammation is directly related to brain inflammation. One doctor at the LIA conference who was speaking about depression said it is often caused by leaky gut and that there is a direct connection and that anyone who has depression should be checked for leaky gut. That pretty good info to know.

My Protocol

One of my favorite things to do for pumping up the immune system in my gut is taking several key nutrients together.

I take Glutamine, MSM and Aloe Juice together in a “cocktail.” I do this once or twice a week for maintenance, but if I were sick I would do this daily while on my way to a full recovery. Even when the battle is over with Lyme, it’s really important to keep going with “maintenance” as time is an essential factor for recovery. You can do all the right things, but doing them over a period of time really solidifies your comeback and this is when you might find yourself healthier than you have been in your entire life (even pre Lyme).

Glutamine is an amino acid found in the blood. A lot of athletes take it after workouts (post recovery) to keep themselves from getting ill, because after strenuous workouts it’s very easy to succumb to common colds, etc. Here are some uses of glutamine:

can reduce healing time after surgery or exercise,

may increase HGH levels,

improves gut barrier function and other conditions of the gastrointestinal tract and

may help increase cellular energy.

The only downside to Glutamine (taken in high quantities) is the fact that it helps regulate the acid-base balance in the kidneys by producing ammonium. People whose bodies are producing too much ammonium due to diseases like cancer or even Lyme in some instances, may not want to take glutamine. With that said, people who do have these types of diseases are always going to have problems with their gut, so it seems like a bit of a catch-22. In my opinion, taking small amounts of glutamine should not be a problem for these types of people and should be beneficial.

Signs of hepatic encephalopathy (i.e. build up of ammonium) is a worsening of brain function which occurs when the liver is no longer able to remove toxic substances in the blood. There are lots of reasons why this can happen, but with people with Lyme it can be totally infection related.

Other issues which can trigger this:

Being dehydrated ( I’ve written numerous newsletters on this issue)

Eating too much protein (Not usually the case with people with Lyme)

Electrolyte imbalances (I hound all my readers about this issue, read about Electrolytes here!)

Infections (Bacteria, like Lyme)

Kidney problems (Just another detox organ that has to be addressed with Lyme recovery)

Low oxygen levels in the body (Exercise, get an ozone machine and do HBOT)

Use of medications that suppress the central nervous system (such as barbiturates or benzodiazepine tranquilizers)

* As I’ve stated before, having a Lyme plan to deal with each problem is important for a full Lyme recovery because each issue seems to trigger another issue. The gut is important to repair. However in some instances, people may need to focus on their liver FIRST if they are having a build up of ammonium (“brain mush” feeling can be a symptom of this) and the other triggers for ammonium must be dealt with as well. It can be complicated, but it’s all do-able.

MSM is an organic sulfur compound, called Methylsulfonylmethane. I believe many people with Lyme have sulfur imbalances, which is important to regulate as part of recovery. MSM is good for inflammation issues. People who take MSM say they have reduced pain and improved physical functioning.

Aloe and Aloe Oil- I’ve said it once; I’ll say it again…I don’t think there is anything better out there for dealing with inflammation. Aloe is used primarily for gut problems. People with IBS, polyps, etc. have had “miracle” like recoveries by taking something as simple as highly concentrated aloe. The best part is that it’s good for everything! Even Lyme bacteria can’t thrive and survive in aloe. It’s good for everything, all the time! I’m not even going to bother listing the uses, it would take up too much space (and time). Newsletter I wrote on aloe uses for Lyme.

My GUT cocktail:

1 tablespoon of aloe concentrate, 1 teaspoon of Glutamine (pharmaceutical grade), and 1 teaspoon of MSM (pharmaceutical grade) in 8 oz of clean, purified water (preferably micro clustered/charged with geomag card).

Followed by…..

1-3 aloe oil “pearls”

For tough cases, I would do something like this twice a day and follow this by taking a product like Permeability Factors. I like this product because it has Gamma Orzyanol and Phosphatidylcholine.

Because of the oil disaster, I would encourage you to get an ozone unit in your house and a very high quality air filter in your house. For those wanting to go further step, you could look into negative ion generators.

If you visited my house, you would see stacks of books everywhere on subjects far between. One book I started reading this week is called, Super Detox, but Micheal van Straten. I haven’t gotten too far in the book, but one sentence in his book made me think about my daily regime. He said everyone needs an occasional treat (referring to Christmas and Thanksgiving), but what really counts is what you do MOST of the time.

I know most people have habits of all kinds, but good habits produce good results. If you look at successful people (let’s say in business), you’ll rarely see someone who is overweight and/or sickly. They are usually people, who play the part (even if they ARE sick). They get up early and often workout religiously. If they work 12 hrs each day, they’ll get up at 5am just to make room. They dress impeccably, even if it’s just to attend their kid’s soccer game.

While, I may walk around in sweats/ and even “sin clothes” sometimes (hah!), my goals are also very different. While ill, I started focusing on exercising and trying to get as good as possible at it. (Even though most of you know I’m an athlete, I started from rock bottom). I also started creating habits that I now call my “health maintenance” and these small changes have changed my life. It took no more time or effort to make these changes. They are just changes (which are just choices). I embraced them, made them my own (just like you would any habit).

What do you on a daily basis and how does that impact your life? What choices can you make so that a not so good habit becomes a very helpful habit? It could even be as blessing your food or taking 2-3 minutes while showering (because that’s something you are going to do anyways) to envision the healthier you that’s right around the corner.

Yesterday I rolled my ankle. I haven’t done this in a very long time (actually since college due to the stability exercises I do for my ankles and lower legs), but after a short track workout and then a subsequent tempo run I was tired and my body got lazy. I could swear the rock hit me, but I’m sure it was probably my fault.

The reason why I’m writing about this for the first part of the newsletter is my recovery from this injury. After I rolled it, I got up and walked. Then once somewhat comfortable, I jogged on it. In most rolled ankle cases, it’s a good thing to keep walking or even jogging, if possible (even if that means being in a little pain at the beginning). After I started jogging on it, I was able to go back to a comfortable run (although I knew my ankle was not in stellar shape). Then I made a critical mistake of NOT icing when I returned home. I was more concerned about calories and replacing what I lost during my workout.

It wasn’t until 8pm that night (while doing laundry) that I couldn’t stand on my ankle. I was so upset at myself for not taking care of the problem quicker and I was SURE that I had a serious injury. I was in a lot of pain and I think the inflammation finally caught up with me.

So quickly, I started an ice bath for my foot. It was excruciating. (I cried.) After 15 minutes I started applying my geomagnetic card for 3-4 minutes and then icing intermittently. Furthermore, I drank 3 tablespoons of aloe mixed with MSM and a horde of fish/flax oils. (This was all for the inflammation.) Then for the finale, I had some DMSO gel (a natural organic solvent that can be found in vet stores). I mixed arnica oil, aloe oil and a crushed up “expired” ibuprofen. (Because I so rarely ever take anything for pain I had one packet in an emergency kit in my car.) All of this was mixed with DMSO and applied to my ankle to “marinate.” DMSO is a great carrying solvent. I was able to send the “goodies” straight to the source of the problem.

Then when I went to sleep I slept with my geomag card inside my sock on top of my ankle.

More Information On Geomagnetic Cards/Products (see the newsletter on GeoMag Cards)

Here’s another newsletter about Mineral Deficiency, but I post pictures of the geomag card working on a nasty bruise…see how quickly it helps heal a nasty bruise-WOW!)

I was POSITIVE I would wake up with a colorful ankle and major pain (and probably wondering how I was going to keep training/racing for the outdoor season), but this morning there was no evidence at all of an injury…just a little stiffness! I’m planning on hitting it hard again on the track tomorrow.

The point I’m making is that healing can happen very fast under the right conditions. I took something internally, I applied something topically, I used geomagnetism and then on top of that I used a basic physical therapy practice- ice! Attacking health issues from multiple approaches will ALWAYS produce more of a synergistic healing effect than just using ONE method. Think about this the next time you go see your doctor and always ask, “what else?”

Part of getting healthy from Lyme Disease is limiting your exposure to all things toxic to the body and with less exposure your body can function the way it was designed (meaning killing invaders and keeping YOU healthy). It’s not the easiest thing to do at first (changing your choices), but since you are going to eat, use a cell phone, use toothpaste, etc. …might as well just CHOOSE the better option for your health.

Lyme Questions From People Everywhere

I get loads of emails and I don’t mind going through it all (with help usually), but I’ve decided to post some questions in my newsletter and answer them for everyone.

Q: Can you detox while on antibiotics?

A: Yes, of course you can. Detoxing with numerous protocols is something that everyone sick or NOT sick should be doing. There are obvious precautions you have to take while detoxing on sulfa-drugs. For example, let’s say you want to go jump in a sauna and while that is a great way to detox, I would never do it for more than 15 minutes at a time (depending on the temperature). You can become quite ill from the sauna. It can be draining and you sweat vital minerals and electrolytes out (which most people with Lyme are VERY deficient in already). This can exacerbate the problem and is the reason why I think so many people can get even sicker by doing this.

Last week I was in the dry sauna at the gym. I often do this a few times a week as a detox, but also to get the lactic acid out of my legs after track workouts. I alternate between “spinning,” which is low resistance/ high turn over on a stationary bike and the sauna (fantastic way to recover from hard exercise). While in there, a little old lady who must have been 80 years old was complaining about her heart pills, how dizzy she was, and how she had terrible leg and feet cramps due to her medication. It was 180 degrees in the sauna, but she refused to leave when I (politely) suggested she not do the sauna that day. I really didn’t feel like doing CPR on this old lady and thankfully she left after a few minutes.

If you are on meds your body is already fighting to maintain its balance, so hitting the sauna at this time could create a very bad situation.

Safer detox methods are usually encouraged, but any kind of detoxing is still going to have some side effect. You just have to figure out what you can handle and always work your way up. Put your toe in first to test the water.

Q: If you were sick again, what type of doctor would you go see?

A: This could get me in trouble, but it’s my OPINION I would never see anyone conventional. From my own experience, you don’t have to do a single bit of conventional tactics to get over Lyme, but you do have to think for yourself and you do have to implement (like the way an athlete is persistent in training, it’s no different). I like Integrative Medical doctors and D.O. docs. They just seem to have their heads screwed on tighter and are accepting of the fact that there are methods of treatment that may not make sense to them, but WORK . Theories are “just theories” but we use them everyday with modern technology.

If I knew I had an acute infection, I would consider a conventional doctor if I knew I could get a good quick dose of antibiotics, but knowing that most cases are chronic, I would start thinking the opposite of most people and ask but WHAT ELSE BESIDES BACTERIA? That’s the key.

And lastly, anyone who could educate me and give me a heads up (been there and done that), I’d be ALL over that!…meaning, like I did before, I would take the entire situation into my own hands and find the solutions through any means necessary.

Q: How successful are your coaching clients at getting healthy?

A: VERY. This is the interesting part. Most of them are young women with children. I’ve said this before in a newsletter. They are young, intelligent and often have a small child or two (so they have something to live for). They are terrified at being sick forever and are smart enough to realize that to get over this they have to do things “different.” They are also all very good implementers. There have only been a few coaching clients (that I know of) who aren’t implementing, but perhaps they are going at their own speed and this is important because when you start doing the RIGHT things, the only thing you cannot control is TIME, because time becomes a factor in recovery.

Just take the simplest issue here that I always hound people on in my newsletter: Nutrition. Once you start repairing a nutrition problem, it will take at least 3-4 months to build your storages back up…meaning everything that was affected by NOT having certain nutrition needs TIME to now correct itself. It’s not overnight, although some people have “miraculous” energy increases immediately by just giving themselves the right “goods.” But they have to be careful because while they may feel good, they are still in recovery mode. I made this mistake in my Lyme journey. I went back to training in 2008, post LYME and I didn’t have the STORAGES to do the training and I boinked and regressed slightly (enough to NOT contend in the Olympics). The journey was a tough lesson as it is for everyone, but I love being able to help people get through it faster and smarter than they would by themselves.

A few days ago I heard from someone I coached last year. I saw her in South Carolina right before I started racing the track indoor season (January sometime). She looked tired and was in the middle of doing her final “kill” (that’s what I call it). She did mention just feeling kind of drained. We talked for a while and I told her to keep going. And this week when I heard from her, she says, “I am doing really well right now – I actually mowed my yard today –OMG I have incredible energy, like almost too much…. if that is possible..” She said she was still going forward with everything and still had some facial spasms left (which are also recoverable). TIME was the only factor she and I could not account for. I knew it was only time that was the final factor, but I’m sure she is starting to see that now for herself.

But back to the question, I get a lot of really nice emails from coaching folks, when I hear back, it’s always positive.

Q: I’ve been sick for almost 9 years now and I am feeling better than I did years ago, but feel like I should be way better off now. How long must I be sick for before I get better?

A: When it comes down to TIME and HEALING, my suggestion to you is this: If you are progressing, you should be happy. However, if progressing at a snail’s pace is not making you very happy, you must look elsewhere for guidance and treatments. Now that I can look at coaching clients, I’ve seen the worst cases recover in less than a year. Not saying that’s possible for everyone, but I’ve coached deathly ill people and I have seen people turn it around quite quickly (and believe me when you have been chronically ill and you say you are recovered “fully” within a year…that’s quite significant). It took me 4.5 years and I’m still not “OK” with it taking me so long.

Since I moved into a new house about a month ago, I’ve noticed several things that I didn’t want. I tried VERY hard to choose a house that was as “green” as possible. I know about the problems with EMF/ELF and part of changing my lifestyle to continue my great health, I need to be aware of these issues and protect myself as much as possible from anything that could cause any deterioration of my health over time.

When I first moved in, I opened up my laptop and looked for all the wireless signals I was receiving. The good news is that I had “only” about 4-5 and they were all very weak signals. I’ve heard of people living in apartments who get 25-30 wireless “beams” running through their apartment (also coursing through their bodies). That’s why I like to avoid apartments.

Then I got internet. I didn’t get wireless. I have a regular modem set up in ONE room of the house. It’s not really a good idea to have wireless and to be sitting with a laptop on your stomach. You know this move right? You’re on the sofa and you want to sit comfortably, so you just set it right on your belly. Not a good idea!

Taking EMF/ELF Issue Seriously

Some people want convenience, but I constantly have to look at the health aspect of everything now. It’s my JOB and it directly affects what I do since I’m an athlete. I have to take everything seriously, especially after my full recovery from Lyme disease.

I’ve been called the “Food Nazi” by my parents and I guess I’m the “EMF/ELF Nazi” now as well. My sister has an IPhone and she is constantly wearing it so I’ve had to say something about that to her as well. I don’t “wear” my cell phone. I may have it ON and stowed in my purse when I expect someone’s call, but at other times it’s just OFF and I try to never talk on it in the car. Apparently the magnitude of the problem exacerbates in the car.

So what I’m doing right now is figuring how to cut out my neighbors’ weak wireless signals completely or to provide some kind of protection from it. I’m also trying to figure what I’m going to do about the power lines in the back of the house. In Colorado, the lines are not buried (this now creates a magnetic, but also an electric field). Not that it changes the issue that much, but those harmful frequencies just reach further! I’m about 15-20 meters from the lines, which then cross into my yard and into the electrical box on the back of the house.

I spend the most time in the room that the box is directly opposite of on the outside of the house (the office…because I’m working if I’m not training (which is also work).

So I know that I need some protection on that side of the wall (a shield of sorts).

I also want to provide shielding for my bed area so that when I sleep I get the maximum amount of protection. I’m really into sleeping. I sleep 9-12 hrs everyday and I have to so I can recover from my training. It’s imperative that my sleeping environment be top notch. Right now, there is no TV in that room, just a mirror, an all natural latex bed, all natural fabrics, a dresser and a lamp. My bed is flush against the wall which does not contain any electrical outlets.

*Just an interesting side note. When I first moved in, I moved my bed into several positions on different walls each night to see where I slept the best. I’m very sensitive naturally and what I found was that when my bed was the furthest away from the electrical outlets, it gave me the best sleep. I tested this several times.

Interesting EMF/ELF Discussion

I had very interesting discussions with two interesting people involved in all things science. One was on a flight to L.A. when I sat by a man who is in the satellite business. His background is in engineering power sources. He has a private lab where he has engineers who do nothing but work on oscillating frequencies for satellites. We got into a huge discussion (3 hrs worth) about these frequencies and how they can be used for health applications and he was intrigued, and I was intrigued by how these satellites that orbit the earth really function. It’s completely amazing. The conversation also turned to EMF/ELF protection. Naturally he understood the problem. We started talking about using geomagnetics for protection and how you could probably beam counter frequencies to null the harmful ones. But to use frequency you must have an energy source. With geomagnetics (while probably not as good protection), you don’t need a power source.

Alright, so besides talking about nutrition (he’s a master runner), the movie business (he’s in that as well), some Hollywood club that I must see the next time I go because it’s supposedly raunchy and hilarious, and science…it was overall very exciting to meet up with someone with so many similar and diverse interests.

Easy Protection Now!

The next conversation just happened yesterday, with an eccentric science “nerd” who dabbles in geomagnetics and all kinds of health tools. He provides me with the geomagnetic cards I’ve written about him in past newsletters. He and I were discussing my living situation, the man I met on the plane, and the new gadgets that are out there for EMF/ELF protection. While I haven’t totally decided yet what I’m going to do for the house (which I will write about in a near future newsletter, because there are loads of options and I’m all about the cheapest but most effective way), I spoke to him again about using the cards for such protection. I told him I was always wearing my card(s), using them to tap meridian points before workouts/training and also using them to charge my water and I wanted to make sure that they were EMF/ELF effective. The cards ARE effective for the protection.

So in the meantime, while I figure out what my solution is for an ever greater barrier to the harmful frequency problem, I’m wearing my card so that I’m getting decent protection.

I’ve heard that the BEST protection is obviously to remove yourself from harm’s way, but in this day and age, unless you want to go move out to Eastern Colorado (and that place is way more desolate than KANSAS…You’d probably have to dig for water), the next best option is just to stay aware of the exposure and to take the steps (all that you can) to minimize the damage.

I believe that like the engineer/scientist on the plane, the science for these cell phones/cells phone towers, satellites, etc. all have the technology to null their own harmful frequencies, but since we have a population problem on earth, I doubt that this will happen anytime soon.

One thing I did notice in so many presentations at this last Lyme conference is that EMF/ELF is an issue we have to resolve. Some presenters went into more detail than others, but everyone (doctor’s included) agreed that it HAS to be addressed and proper steps to minimizing exposure is VERY important.

If you don’t know what to do about your living situation (like me, where I’m going to have to spend some time figuring out good, better, best solutions for everyone), get a geomagnetic card and “slap” it on. You can sleep with it, wear it, men can put it in their wallets (I wear it in my bra, next to my heart).

So when I revisit this topic and have some solutions for the home (and there are a bunch of gadgets out there), I will speak a little more scientifically for those who are trying to educate themselves on a deeper level.

Obviously many health conditions arise when your home environment is not sound. The EMF/ELF problem alone makes us prone to electromagnetic radiation that has adverse health effects, so please take this issue seriously as a step to healing.

My topic was my overall Lyme plan which everyone can use, but also using aerobic/anaerobic conditioning (with examples of how to start even when you feel like death) to beat Lyme and get your body to start responding like it should.

I’m back from the L.I.A. (Lyme Induced Autism) conference in Palm Springs. It was actually two week-ends ago, but I’ve honestly been swamped (no time for a newsletter) this past week. If you were able to attend, I know you’re probably “slightly” overwhelmed at what you learned. If you didn’t get to go, you really missed out. Apparently the conference was streaming online, but I didn’t know about it until I was getting ready to speak. One of the topics from a well known Lyme expert was treating Lyme disease withOUT antibiotics. Imagine that! It’s what I’ve been saying all along. Way too many complications when using long term antibiotics and way too many great “substitutions” to quell the illness when it is chronic.

My topic was my overall Lyme plan which everyone can use, but also using aerobic/anaerobic conditioning (with examples of how to start even when you feel like death) to beat Lyme and get your body to start responding like it should.

While there I heard a lot of good presentations, which completely correlated with my own thoughts and experiences of having a full recovery. Many of these people have treated lots of folks with LD quite successfully, so it’s no surprise that their opinions mirror my own. I even saw a few people from the previous year who have had dramatic recoveries. This makes me very happy. Nothing pleases me more than to hear from people I’ve had a major hand in helping.

Easy Symptom Checklist for LD and Co-Infections

Wanna Know How Alike We All Really Are?

I always get this, “How do you know that what works for you, will work for me?” Let’s look at the labs that us Lyme folks have in common. After looking at so many (and obviously at my own), it’s pretty amusing to see how alike we all really are. People who really think they are so different are setting themselves up for failure when it comes to treatment. So don’t make it an excuse as to why you’re not getting better.

Take a look:

Low CD 57

Low B12 and folic acid levels

Elevated CRP

Western Blot (may come up as IND or NEG or POS, but still numerous bands are usually present)

C1Q complex low

Low glutathione

Low natural killer cell function

Thyroiditis

Fibrinogen issues (due to inflammation, the bacteria and probably poor lifestyle BEFORE the disease)

Low Vitamin D

This is just typical of people with Lyme disease and probably MOST people who have autoimmune issues (minus the Western Blot). This means that the correction can occur in just about everyone with similar protocols. The only thing missing here is finding out about co-infections (when you have one type, you have many types of co-infection…it’s just a given) and also what prior health issues you have, because this disease exacerbates prior conditions. It’s easy to think its all Lyme, but it’s about 20% of the problem for most people I’ve coached. So stop panicking about the bacteria! It’s a stinker, but you CAN kill it off and have a full recovery.

Here are some other interesting symptoms based on specific co-infections (from the diagnosis summary of Dr. Therese Yang):

Babesia (co-infection test unreliable)

Fever at onset

Chills, fatigue, drenching sweats, depression

Symptoms worse after exercising

Enlarged liver and subcutaneous “lumps”

Low WBC

Bartonella

Slow onset of symptoms (like Borrelia)

Brain symptoms

Anxiety, overstimulation (“bad nerves”), tremors

Muscle twitches

Sore feet

Gut problems

Swelling of Lymph nodes

Morning fevers

Light sweats

Red rashes (looks like stretch marks)

Rapid response to treatment changes, no response to previous antibiotics, rapid relapse off of antibiotics

Ehrlichia

Rapid onset of illness, includes fevers or headaches (that can be painful)

Muscle pain

Low WBC

Skin rashes

Can have skin lesions

Regular ‘ol Lyme (Bb)- Short List of Symptoms

Monthly flares

Chronic pain, neuropathy, fibromyalgia, arthritis, joint cracking

Brain is foggy (not working right)

Behavior problems (depression, rage, aggression, dementia, eating disorders, panic attacks)

GI problems

Cardiac issues (heart is “racing”)

Sub-normal body temperature

Hair loss/hypothyroid issue

Allergic to antibiotics and sensitive to some supplements

Lupus, ALS, Arthritis diagnosis

Alright, so we already know the list of symptoms is much larger than this, but I think it’s pretty concise as far as what you should be focusing on to figure out your co-infection. Again, you cannot worry so much about the different co-infections because bacteria is bacteria and in the end, it all has to go! The testing for co-infections (just like Lyme) is pretty crappy. So symptoms are KEY !

What’s really interesting is that every symptom up here is what I unfortunately experienced myself! I can honestly say I had it all! While it’s good to know what you’re dealing with, it’s important not to get too wrapped up in it, believing that each bacteria needs its own HUGE protocol to get rid of. There are plenty of ways to treat everything that shouldn’t be there with different kinds of combined treatments that do not cause the body harm. Bacteria cannot thrive in bodies that are strong. It’s basically that simple.

The worst mistake I see people make is that they run off to infectious disease doctors who know only ONE way to treat them and these doctors ignore the fact that the person they are dealing with has multiple health issues that must be addressed (often the biological terrain of that person is a breeding ground for pathogens). Once that individual goes on long term antibiotics for a chronic health condition, they go downhill, when they could be going UPHILL by correcting the underlying problems first!

I’m not against conventional treatment, but I see this problem as more of an epidemic sized problem..usually because people are scared that there is no other way. I too, once I found out I had Lyme, ran off to the infectious disease expert (only to cut ties after about 30 days of treatment, never to return). It WAS NOT easy to NOT know what I was doing at that time and trust my gut instinct to go a different direction. It took heart and guts, but I know it is what got me to this point (back to athletics and a disease free life).

I’ll be doing my part by working with various media outlets to get the word out. Last year I was on the TV show, “The Doctors.”

Here are a few rallies in several states. I’m sure there is something going on in your state. If you feel the need to be vocal, please attend your state rally. But remember to spend your energy first getting healthy!

For Georgians: Please join us at the Georgia State Capitol on Monday, May 3rd, from 10 am -12:30 pm – a proclamation will be issued declaring May, Lyme Disease Awareness Month in Georgia. Several Georgians affected by Lyme disease will share their stories to help create awareness about Lyme and tick-borne diseases.

We don’t have all the details yet, for instance, whether it will be held in the North Wing or South Wing of the Rotunda. If you are planning to attend, please email us at info@GeorgiaLymeDisease.org to inquire about the exact location, sometime late next week, and we will let you know.

For South Carolinians : Lyme disease awareness rally at the State Capitol again this year on Thursday, May 13th beginning at 10:00 am email: sec2go@yahoo.com

Anyone who has had their mind on health issues over the last few years has probably heard of balancing one’s pH as a means to beat cancer and other degenerative diseases.

Anyone who has had their mind on health issues over the last few years has probably heard of balancing one’s pH as a means to beat cancer and other degenerative diseases. Naturally, we are supposed to get this balance from the foods we eat, but I think with modern living it has become increasingly hard to do. Most people have a diet that is highly acidic. I would imagine someone who really eats like they should is probably someone who has OCD and is obsessive about only eating foods that are alkaline. I’m pretty obsessed with it myself, but if I look at a typical week’s worth of eating, I notice that it is just WAY too hard to eat only alkaline producing foods.

On the flipside, the balance is really what is desired. It’s not always about eating alkaline or acidic foods, but a combination as our body chemistry literally changes on a daily, even hourly basis. Good health (or should I say better health) can come expected when a balance is achieved as the balance helps our bodies fight whatever is ailing us.

With Lyme disease, you may or may not have heard about the die-off issue. I believe that die-off from the bacteria creates a highly acidic state inside the body. I also believe that Lyme thrives in acidic bodies, just like other “cooties.” If having the right pH balance helps our bodies own system fight invaders, why not make sure that you have the desirable balance?

Everyone I coach has some type of serious pH issue. The proof is in the symptoms they complain about.

Perhaps some less noticeable symptoms may include headaches, allergies, sinus issues and colds/flu. But overtime organs and organ systems can be effected (think thyroid, adrenals and liver). Being overly acidic can halt our cellular metabolism because of the lack of oxygen (which means cells die).

Some overall generic symptoms of this imbalance include: joint pain, hot flashes, nasal drip, estrogen imbalance, chest pains, back disease, herpes, ringing in ears, fatigue, just to name a few. It doesn’t mean that all of these symptoms are due to pH issues, but having a number of these issues could be telling of a pH imbalance.

Some of these people are the types who have “tried everything” and truly have given lots of treatments a good go. They are often people who are working very hard, even on the minimum requirement which is being active (while being ill) and eating quite well (diets which are good and nourishing).

I have no idea why people are not able to maintain pH. It is obvious that while you can change your pH quite quickly, it is still very hard to maintain. I’m guessing the usual reason is too many health issues and conditions which have NOT been addressed yet. Multiple health conditions can obviously keep your body’s homeostasis whacky. This means the need to balance is even more important.

So How Exactly Do You Balance pH?

Well, hopefully you pay attention to your gut instincts when it comes to food. People laugh at me when I tell them what I ate for the day because often it doesn’t make sense to them. Some people can’t understand my cravings and neither can I. I just eat what feels right and one day that might be raw milk or ice cream and an hour later it might be pickles. Step one is understanding your cravings (if you can) and picking good choices for foods. For example: I can eat pickles with all kinds of preservatives and corn syrup or I can eat the naturally fermenting kind. I can eat ice cream (the cheap stuff) with about 30 different ingredients or I can eat the premium stuff (organic, the kind that is made with milk, cream, sugar).

Foods to keep in mind: nuts, seeds, sprouts, berries, herbs, fruits and vegetables.

The second thing is mineral balancing. I’ve said it before…I’ll say it again until everyone gets it. Keeping your minerals balanced will keep your healthy! Minerals are life sustaining elements. The body has to have them for energy production, cellular maintenance, bone/teeth formation, muscle function, enzyme systems (which regulate cellular metabolism), nerve transmission, hemoglobin production, protein synthesis and hormones.

Now almost everyone I talk to has problems with hormones, nerve damage, weak blood, energy/fatigue issues, muscular issues and metabolism issues. Does this sound like you?

IMPORTANT: Unfortunately, the reason why I think people aren’t getting the benefit out of the minerals they are taking is because of the ratio they are taking (it is perhaps NOT what they need) and also the size/form of the mineral is not being absorbed and not utilized properly by the body.

A nano sized form of mineral is most useful. I usually use these minerals once a day since I’m on maintenance now, but often there are days that I can go without because they are taste sensitive. I HIGHLY suggest them for everyone who is ill and I strongly suggest staying on them as maintenance, if you find yourself recovered one day. They last a long time and can evenly balance out the mineral intake that is unique to your own body chemistry on any given day and any given hour.

Taste Sensitive Minerals

The third thing you can use (especially if you know or suspect you have an on-going alkaline/acid balance issue) is something like pH Recover. This, in addition, to the minerals above can be used in combination. pH Recover has a blend of different organic greens like wheat grass, alfalfa juice powder, barley grass juice powder, beet juice powder and a bunch of others. It also contains Magnesium Citrate (95% of magnesium supplements contain poorly absorbable magnesium), Aragonite Crystalline Calcium Concentrate (it takes 13 lbs of coral calcium to make one pound of this concentrate, which means the powder is a very small 3.3 micron size, and that means superior absorption), and Chapara, a native Indian prized herb that has alkalizing properties.

If you’re eating well, taking your minerals and getting “recovered” with pH recover, you should consider that a nice way of balancing your acid/alkaline ratio.

Try pH Recover Here

pH papers, what’s the deal on that?

Blood pH is more important and indicative of your ratio than those paper strips you can place on your tongue. The paper strips are more revealing of the pH of your digestive system, not your overall body. Blood should be considered the ultimate way of testing pH. Being acidic in your digestive system is not always a bad thing. Often people sick with Lyme have very low digestive juices in the first place and have to supplement this aspect to regain total health. Just another part of the puzzle for some folks.

Here’s my most recent update. I’m back in Colorado training at altitude and a very important issue to address very quickly is the need for iron. Most people are so consumed with the dangers of getting too much that many of them don’t realize that they are far more likely to be anemic (especially when you’re trying to get over an illness like Lyme disease). The reason I decided to write about this is because as an athlete making sure iron levels are adequate is very important, especially when going up to altitude since the thinner air will make one’s body work much harder. Having good iron levels means having oxygen enriched blood. Your red blood cells must have it. You can either have your doctor test your hemoglobin (included on a regular blood panel) and ferritin (usually a separate test), or you can get dark field microscopy done in which a microscope technician can look at a wet blood sample and determine if there are any “ghost cells” (cells that have no plasma, so only the rim of the cell is visible).

If you’re constantly fatigued, you need to rule out the iron issue. This goes for both men and women, although it is more common for women to be anemic. Unfortunately part of the problem with Lyme disease is that it robs you of minerals. You must replace so you can fight back. In addition to iron, look into using these minerals ( I’ve written about them in the past and have even more interesting news on why they are so effective…I’ll share in a later newsletter).

An interesting guy contacted me about using “subtle energy” called protonic energy to destroy pathogens (without any type of adverse effect). Naturally I was very curious about it. So I did a little studying on this instrument called “the analyzer” and how this energy can travel long distances to break apart the pathogens that are unique to each individual. No this isn’t RIFE.

This is the exact information that was sent to me:

THE ELIMINATION OF PATHOGENS BY WAY OF THE HIERONYMUS ANALYZER

The Hieronymus analyzer is the invention of the late, Dr. T. Galen Hieronymus, a man whose seminal work has laid the foundation for a hitherto, unrecognized energy. In operation, the Hieronymus analyzer controls an energy not of the electromagnetic spectrum, but rather, the pulsation of the proton. This pulsation travels at instantaneous velocity and does not attenuate over distance. I term this protonic pulsation the, “Creative Strength,” as I believe this energy is responsible for the geometry of all physical forms. It is this protonic pulsation that beckons recognition and acceptance in our daily lives.

One particular application that I have developed with the Hieronymus analyzer is to shatter and thus destroy all types of pathogens, such as, bacteria, viruses, protozoa, fungi, etc. I call upon the law of resonance when using the analyzer in order to destroy such pathogens.

In practice, I use magnified, microphotographs of pathogens in conjunction with the analyzer to destroy the following types of single-celled pathogens: bacteria, fungi, protozoa, amoeba, etc. The microphotographs that I use are magnified at the cellular level so that these types of pathogens can have their, “Creative Strength” accessed and thus shattered. That is, a magnified microphotograph of a specific pathogen at the cellular level will allow me to shatter the geometry or the physical form of that very pathogen. The analyzer will decipher the, “Creative Strength,” of a pathogen and broadcast that exact energy in order to shatter or destroy the geometry of that pathogen.

For instance, I have been able to destroy borrelia burgdorferi, the causative agent of Lyme disease by way of the aforementioned practice. In operation, a magnified, microphotograph of borrelia burgdorferi will be placed in to the analyzer alongside a photo of a person suffering from Lyme disease. The analyzer will ascertain the energy or “Creative Strength” of the bacterium, borrelia burgdorferi, and subsequently broadcast that exact energy in to the person suffering from Lyme disease. As these two (2) identical energies met, a repulsion will take place thus shattering the bacterium. This is the law of resonance in application by way of the Hieronymus analyzer.

When addressing viral infections, I use a transmission electron micrograph of the virus that reveals the nucleic acid, the DNA and/or RNA of the virus. A transmission electron microscope projects a beam of electrons through the outer, protein shell of a virus, thereby allowing the genetic material to be photographed. Hence, an appropriate transmission electron micrograph will allow the analyzer to shatter the genetic code inside a virus. Once the genetic code has been destroyed the virus ceases to function.

Succinctly, the Hieronymus analyzer offers mankind a fundamental approach to arranging physical forms or disarranging physical forms. In essence, the protonic pulsation, the “Creative Strength,” will allow mankind to create favorable physical states or destroy harmful physical states.

I have treated thousands of people with various types of pathogenic infection with great success. My immediate intent is to introduce this simple treatment modality to interested parties and to encourage a groundswell of support and participation on a worldwide basis. The analyzer treats the cause of disease, not the symptoms. It is my fondest desire that mankind would embrace this gift from God.

After reading this and doing a little research, I totally understood this concept but I had to try it out. Mr. Paladino, who sent me this, asked me for a photograph (that’s all that is needed for treatment) and the photograph is read by the micrograph (by detecting how light is reflected off an individual, which is unique). The analyzer then sends the appropriate pulsation (which eventually reaches me, if you didn’t know already the entire universe is a sea of molecules one on the end of another reaching infinitely).

Long story short, I agreed to treatment even though I told Mr. Paladino I wasn’t a good test subject (he’s purported to have treated thousands of people with good results) because I’m not exactly swimming in infection these days…far from it, but he wanted to run a general pathogen cleanse of 750 pathogens that the analyzer has put a “face” too. The treatment took 10 minutes and I was actually asleep when it happened, oddly I did happen to wake up and glance at the clock around the time it was ending.

I’ve had no adverse reaction to the treatment (just like he said). I believe the treatment is experimental right now and unfortunately results are subjective to interpretation; however, since there are no side effects from this, anyone who has received coaching from me may have Mr. Paladino do a pathogen cleanse for free.

To Get This Free Treatment:

All you have to do is send me (perry@beatlyme.com) an email with your full name and a picture of you (from any period of time). I will forward this email to Mr. Paladino where you can schedule your treatment.

For those who aren’t coaching clients, you can contact Mr. Paladino directly about his research. His email is: fiat77maria@aol.com

In many states, spring is in the air! I’ve noticed that it’s the time of year people start working in their yards and this is when they start using herbicides and pesticides in and around their homes. Many of you already know the dangers of using these agents, but I have a few suggestions to make sure that you can keep your family (including your beloved pets) safe. It’s probably even more important to avoid these agents if you or a loved one has a compromised immune system.

In this country, when using dangerous chemicals, we say things like: it will kill the roaches but your cat will be fine, OR it will be OK if you’re exposed to small doses, OR it doesn’t exceed the EPA limit of X part per million so we are safe. The real problem is that saying X part per million (or even billion) of something like Arsenic is safe in small amounts is ridiculous as there IS NO SAFE LEVEL! So we continue to drink our water unfiltered and we shower in chlorinated water (because we think that only people who are ill will be susceptible), but it’s only a matter of time before continued use of certain agents make us all sick (even if we aren’t currently ill).

We are chemically addicted in this country and while some of these agents can be helpful, there is almost always an alternative that can be used.

This spring if you have a problem with pests, I highly suggest you find alternatives and give it a good go. If you have to use pesticides go with a company that is certified to use these chemicals and has strict guidelines that their employees adhere too. Never hire “local boys” to spread hazardous chemicals!

Anything that is sprayed around your home will make its way inside your home. You can track it in on your shoes and clothes and your pets will bring it inside also (never mind that many chemicals travel through the air once sprayed). If you wouldn’t consume it or breathe it, I would think twice before using it.

Even if your home is greener than your neighbors, for the sake of your own health, your children’s and pet’s health, I would help my neighbor find alternatives and explain the situation as whatever your neighbor uses will also find its way to your home as well. About 3 years ago my neighbor sprayed for “tree roaches” in their yard and around their house, killing several birds, a squirrel, and my cat (who I think was exposed to their monthly sprayings before finally taking on a deadly amount). Meanwhile, I was terribly ill with Lyme Disease and having my own issues with my immune system and for most nights my cat came inside to sleep with me. It was a horrific ordeal and one that made me quite angry. The worst part is that the house was rented and the yard maintenance was taken care of by some locals, no professionals and they were spraying odorless pesticides (meaning the neighbors didn’t even know they were being exposed as it went undetected).

It may not have been enough to kill me, but it did make me sick and gave me yet another toxin to process. Anyone with Lyme is already full of waste created by the bacteria and also the die-off of bacteria (not to mention all of the day to day pollution we come into contact with).

My suggestions for a healthy home this spring:

Minimize or eliminate all pollution as much as possible. (It’s part of the healing process and the quicker you do it the easier it will be to get healthy

Get an RO unit under your sink or for your entire house like this: Reverse Osmosis Units (there is also another type of water filter that goes on top of your counter with no installation, I don’t have it yet, but I’m going to try this one out, Countertop Water Filtering System )

If you don’t have an RO unit for your entire house then get one for just your kitchen sink and get a shower filter like this: Ultimate Shower Filter (click on this link to learn about how your shower is actually like a poison gas chamber)

Get an ozone machine to clean the air in your house 30 minutes to an hour a day (if it ozonates water, that’s huge, drink a few glasses a day), get one like this: Ozone Unit

Null harmful frequencies that chemicals emit (not a new concept, but new to many people), using a frequency tube like this: Frequency Water Tube , can be used in conjunction with a water filter to micro-cluster water, but to also null any harmful frequencies in the water you drink. The battle for health is a battle against helpful and harmful frequencies.
Well, it’s been about a week since the USA Indoor Track and Field Championships in New Mexico. I unfortunately did not make the World Championship team, but I think many people thought I was crazy to have started real training for this last October (after my 5 year break due to Lyme) and then expect to be at the top. Well, the truth is YES, I did expect to make it, so maybe I am crazy. Unfortunately I pushed, pushed, pushed with my training and racing (every weekend) until I got a fever on Monday (5 days prior to my race). All my symptoms have cleared up (and never fully materialized into what I think was a cold that has been passed around here, but was just enough to throw me off balance when racing really hard) and what I needed was the one thing I didn’t give myself, REST.

Some people wonder why they don’t get over Lyme disease and I can relate it to what I just did. I was doing all of the necessary things I talk about in my newsletters to keep up my “health maintenance” but I didn’t slow down. Had I just rested a little more I would have given myself exactly what my body needed. You must do all things that are available to you to get healthy, you cannot just select a few things to “try out” and dismiss the rest as this is an all out situation for most people who are ill. And for those who do think they do everything, it’s probably the lack of a substantial plan that may be the missing link.

So now with training for the Outdoor season ( the much larger/longer season, as some athletes skip the Indoor season due to climate issues usually), I will make sure I don’t do this again. I guess I got a little overzealous and was perhaps too excited about the idea of causing such an upset. Still it was a huge comeback thus far, one to be very proud of even though I’m still a little sore about the results last weekend.

If I can get back to one of the hardest sports out there (in what’s considered to be the hardest event(s) in that sport), I believe anyone can entertain the thoughts of a full recovery and a return to a normal life.

Just last week, before my race, I got an email from a girl I coached last year. She wrote,

“Go kick some butt Perry. I am doing great. Going out to Co. to go skiing in a couple of weeks. Couldn’t have done it without your guidance. I feel like I am getting my life back and it is amazing. Thanks for being such an inspiration. I tell everyone about you. Buena Suerte, Beth”

Beth is an avid skier and felt so bad that she couldn’t do it. She was so sick. Now she’s back skiing again. Skiing can be tough so congratulations to Beth for getting back to it!

Sometimes people I coach feel so bad that they think there are issues that are beyond their control. It’s easy to fall into this mindset when you can’t control your body and everything hurts, but the truth is besides my own turn around, many of the people I’ve coached have each had their own amazing turn around and all kinds of bizarre issues and complaints go away. Sometimes it just takes a little elbow grease and doing the right things to get yourself back to normal.

I am a full believer that you can turn around anything. Since last year, I’ve seen way too many people make their own “amazing” comebacks and there are many more that are on their way. Everything from neuropathy, to severe fatigue (the kind that keeps you in bed), to the worst cases of fibromyalgia/arthritis and severe psychosis (which is a tendency when you have Lyme). It’s not the doom and gloom that I came across back in 2005 when I first found out I had chronic Lyme disease (among other illnesses).

You should realize that the possibilities are quite endless and you should never be afraid of going for it (all out); you might lose a few battles but you will win the war. The most important thing for most of us is to go back to a normal healthy life, but it can’t be done unless you go for it.

Structural Health- Just Another Part of the Cure!

Yesterday, I went to see my chiropractor. I do this once a week as part of my health maintenance. I usually have lots of strange little aches and pains (that I direct him too) because running on indoor tracks (with sharp turns) this year as been kind of brutal on my skeletal and muscular systems. But seeing a chiropractor, even if you’re not an athlete is still very important.

TRUE STORY- it wasn’t LYME, it was my NECK!…..

When I was going through my Lyme recovery, I noticed a chiropractor’s office on my way home one day and just (on a hunch) decided to go in. I wasn’t really interested in getting X-rays because I just wanted my neck adjusted. I was having some problems with a sniff neck (perhaps due to a car accident years earlier, which had always been a problem and was somehow exacerbated by my health condition). The chiropractor wanted me to get X rays and I finally agreed to it. What was interesting is that he measured the curve in my neck, no other chiropractor in the past had done this.

At this time I had many symptoms going on because of Lyme disease and one was not getting my period. I hadn’t had a period in over a year. I wasn’t training, which is sometimes normal for female athletes to go through, what is called, amenorrhea (in which you do have a cycle, but you don’t actually bleed). It’s not really healthy and isn’t really normal. I have later come to the conclusion that even with very low body fat, a healthy woman will still have a period (from the fact that I’m around 5% body fat these days, I train hard, and I still have a period every 30 days without PMS). * I was told once by a sports doctor that women with less than 12% body fat will not have their period.

The chiropractor brought to my attention that I had a negative 10 degree curve in my neck. A normal neck should have a 42 degree angle…which means my neck was literally going in the wrong direction by 52 degrees! I spent the next 3 months getting treatments and doing exercises to move my neck back in the right angle. Within a few weeks of the treatment, I started having my period!

So what I was thought was due to Lyme diseases, was really a major miscommunication occurring through my nervous systems. My brain was literally disconnected and having troubling sending signals down through my spinal column.

Shocking right? It shouldn’t be. Every little piece of the puzzle has to be put together so that your body can maintain homeostasis. Making sure your brain is connected with the rest of your body is essential. The brain is the command center for your body. It contains the hypothalamus gland and pituary gland (responsible for making hormones that are are detrimental to your health). Communication from the brain to the rest of the body occurs in the spinal column. Having the correct spacing between vertebras is important and so is removing any roadblocks (usually called subluxations).

Finding The Right Kind Of Chiropractor- This is Important!

While I have long ago, fixed the curve in my neck, I ventured out to seek a chiropractor who focuses more on athletes. Many chiropractors (like doctors) have their particular way or focus when treating someone. I happened to see a chiropractor who measures the neck and it was instrumental in my healing (just another thing that had to be corrected, as with most people with Lyme disease).

I now see a chiropractor (who is George Hincappie’s chiropractor, the Tour de France cyclist) who uses frequency and muscle testing to make adjustments (either with a frequency “gun” or by physical manipulation). This has been very important for me to focus on these kinds of details now; but my opinion for someone who is ill, is to focus on the neck and spine so that the proper signals can be established once again.

Ask your chiropractor to put you on a plan to get your neck to a 42 degree angle OR go find one who can do this. Part of his/her program should include a neck traction tool and can help put the curve back into the neck. (see picture of traction tool here- it works!)

http://cms.yext.com/cms/924711812-Return-the-Arc-of-Life-to-your-neck-curve-with-traction.jpg

Unfortunately, I don’t know too many chiropractors who use this tool and don’t know of too many who focus on putting the angle back into the neck (as their main focus). This is why it’s so important to know what’s available and to get educated on what’s out there, because by knowing these types of things will get you from point A to point B, quicker, cheaper, and with less frustration!

So they said it couldn’t be done…well, it’s been 4.5 years of no racing and no training due to Lyme Disease. This October I started training again to make my comeback (in a major time crunch), but knowing that I’m healthier than I’ve been in my entire life, and I’m already qualified for the US Indoor Track and Field Championships (what determines who goes to World Championships)!

I’ve been doubling (meaning racing back to back on a Friday and Saturday almost every weekend in various meets). This is a huge deal because only athletes who are very healthy can recover quick enough to race two days in a row (especially when it comes to running something as tough as the 800m). In 2004, I was unable to do this. Your ability to recover from exercise is very telling of how healthy you really are.

I leave Thursday to race in New Mexico the 800m (check your TV guide for when it airs). I’m the long shot, the dark horse, and I’ve been called some other things that I shouldn’t mention here, but I know no matter what happens I’ve already set myself up for the rest of my career in this sport because the hardest part has already been done. (It’s the part you might be going through right now.)

I had a coach a few weeks ago tell me, “You already won.” And I guess in a way I really have. I agreed with him and told him that the American Records and World Records weren’t for anyone’s satisfaction but my own, so no matter what happens this weekend, this is just the beginning.
